This sucks. They're my favorite DC band. I loved grooving to their catchy toons and now ... alas. If you are in the DC area though, they're playing their last batch of shows every Thursday at DC9 this month.
In more cheerful news, my charming roommate turned me onto a quirky little group called the Spinto Band. Here is an interesting music video of theirs. The song is called "Brown Boxes". They're playing the backstage at the Black Cat on March 22. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlytDzSQr9E

Also, I've discovered this amazing song by Karen Dalton. It's called "Something On My Mind". If anyone can actually find me a copy of it, I'll love you forever.
A few weeks ago in Fredericksburg there was snow. And much rejoicing of this.
And here's what my charming roommate did to someone's car.
We been spendin' most our lives livin' in a gangsta's paradise...
By the way, I just saw the new Justin Timberlake video, "What Goes Around...Come Around". Much as I like JT's new album, that video...severely over-hyped. Considering the rumor's that it contributed to Justin and Cameron Diaz's break up, I don't see much sizzlin' between him and Scarlett Johannson. And the thing is like...10 minutes long and kinda boring. At least when 30 Seconds To Mars made an uber-long video they filmed it in China with crazy Chinese warriors and shit.
There goes my indie cred.
The Afghan Whigs are releasing a retrospective album in May, featuring 2 new songs. I'm very excited, even though chances are slim that the Whigs'll get back together. And now that the Twilight Singers tour is over, my next dose of Greg Dulli might not come for a long, long time. Let's hope the Gutter Twins project with Mark Lanegan will see the light of day pretty soon, cuz I'm getting anxious. Since Dulli and Lanegan have some of the most orgasmic voices ever, IMO.
Meanwhile, my favorite local Washington DC-based band, Monopoli, is playing a slew of shows at DC9 every Thursday in March, I believe. Hopefully I can make it out to at least one of them, but with college and being in Fredericksburg, it's a bit dicey. However, if I can't make it, other peoples should because Monopoli be playin' some damn catchy tunes. Oh, and I just turned 21 yesterday so I can finally make it into DC9 now. And Iota for that matter. And other such clubs and musical venues.
My new favorite album is Please To Meet Me by The Replacements. I should've started listening to The Replacements a long time ago, but oh well. That album and Let It Be are currently the soundtrack of my life. Also on heavy rotation is Jeff Klein's Everyone Loves A Winner, Ballad of the Broken Seas by Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, and, regretfully, Hole's Celebrity Skin.
And sadly, I will be missing Justin Timberlake @ the Verizon Center. Le sigh.
